Antalya, the largest city on Turkey’s western Mediterranean coastline, is a flourishing contemporary city with petite and charming historic center, a good archaeological museum and long sunny beaches running from east to west. The description sums up that we have just reached distinctively stylish and classy place.
I reached Antalya at night via bus. The bus station was as good as any international airport;it serves as a transport hub for the entire mid-coast Mediterranean region. I had my transfers booked to my hotel, so I reached my hotel in 15 minutes. It was in city center, walking distance from MarkAntalya the biggest shopping spot in Antalya.
Antalya is a complete package for broad spectrum of tourist. It’s a ravishing place for tourist ranging from nerdy to adventurous. You can visit historical places like Perg and Aspendos here, visit the beautiful duden waterfalls, visit the old city, old harbor, Ataturk museum, and also do the adventurous water rafting and jeep safari.
After I checked into my hotel, I left for Marina, it’s a good walk down the streets. I found some nice restaurants serving delicious Turkish cuisines, especially seafood, along with Turkish music played by their local bands. There were some good bars around the corner too.
After I finished eating my dinner, I started my stroll towards the clock tower. I could spot restaurants being overly populated with tourists, having the best time of their lives. I had my good time too but then It was the end of the night. Cheers to the glorious morning that awaited me in the city of Antalya. I was too excited to even fall asleep but then I did.
In the morning we left at 8am for Perge which was about 25 KM from city center and then to Aspendos which was relatively close.
I was on my private tour so I had liberty to enjoy the sightseeing (jahandilkiagarirok li). My tour guide, Mr Ali, was a remarkable person, I bet I couldn’t have gotten better than him. He showed me the inside and out of this city.
Apparently Perge and Aspendos were just khandraaat (is kodekhlenaplz), if you have no interest in history then you better hire a tour guide, only he can unveil the glorious stories of this cloaked city. A place is never fun unless you know all about it.
Aspendos is quite famous amongst wedding photographers you will find honeymoon couples taking their honeymoon photo shoots.
After going through a tiring yet quite interesting historical tour we had lunch. In our group there were two females from China and a honeymoon couple from Afghanistan. The lunch became a heated debate of political demise. Being neighboring countries, we had so much to tell each other. I reached a conclusion that it is not the people who are abysmal, the politics itself is a demon.
After lunch, we went to see the most beautiful beaches in Turkey, it was amazing to see that there was so much activity for families and couples on the beach. The barbecue arrangements on the beach are pretty impressive. If you choose lara beach for destination, you’d never regret your stay. Of course it will be heavy on the pocket but you only live once, and I am pretty sure I am not taking all my money to grave for the insects to tear.
You can opt for the adventurous trips of Jeep Safari and Water Rafting if you are staying a little longer in Antalya to energize your trip.
Roman Fortress and Hardrian’s Gate is just a couple of miles away from city centre. It’s a good option to visit while you have the privilege to stay them.
Sandland is another good place to visit. The skill and art shown here is impressive and has sculpture dating back to centuries. To be honest I did not find anything extraordinary in here. Save your time and move on! Go to the waterfalls.
Sandland is also a worth going place, however this is not a major attraction but still one well worth visiting, the skill and art shown here is incredible and the chosen sculptures interesting from many periods of history. (ye Sandland wala part copy pasted hai please rewrite)
After that we went for waterfalls, Duden Waterfall and KursunluSelales. I suggest to spend at least half of the day there, it is quite calm and pleasant place to spend time.
Republic square has one of the amazing views at sunset. One side facing the beach and the other has Yivliminare, and Ataturk monument. People specifically come here at this time of the day to witness the calamity of nature.
A group of skateboarders approached me at Ataturk monument out of curiosity; maybe because I sat there little longer than expected. I am glad I did because otherwise I would have never had an opportunity to communicate with these young lads.
After sunset, I rushed to MarkAntalya for shopping before it shuts down at 9 pm. No journey is complete without a little spice of shopping.
After shopping I walked to my hotel slowly. I was a little poignant on leaving this place; I wish I had more time to explore this diversified land. It has everything for everyone. It’s an ideal choice for couples, families & solo travelers. It has adventurous trips, romantic beaches, historical sites, malls and bazars, amazing night life, thus if you are visiting Turkey then Antalya is a must place to visit for at least 3 days. Make it a month! You can never grow tired of the colors of life here.
Always get a local SIM with internet, so that you can easily trace your location and find nearby attractions
Plan your trip in such a way that you must have 3 clean days else you won’t be able to completely discover the destination.
Spend a day at Lara Beach if you are not staying at there, and if you are going with big family size then you must experience Bar BQ on your own.
Keep one day for Waterfalls, it is good and worth spending some time in relax mode.
Don’t miss out sea food at Marina
Never go to the historical places Perge and Aspendos on your own, always book a tour and make sure you have a professional tour guide in that trip else you will waste your day in Khandarat.
Water rafting and Jeep Safari is recommended for young travelers you will enjoy guaranteed!
Stay close to city center, as most of the famous tourist destination are on walk distance
